Method

Use an occasion card that has a centred design that way you will end up with a more visually appealing gift box.

Cut in half along the fold line.

Take the piece with the picture on as this will be the lid.

Take a ruler and place it from corner to corner and mark out a light line in the centre with your pencil, then place the ruler across the opposite corners and mark out a line in the centre so you end up with an ‘X’ in the centre.

Fold up the long side of the card so the edge touches the centre of the ‘X’ and crease it with the ruler for a sharp crease then unfold it.

Do the same with the other long side.

Then the same again but for the short sides.

Now use your rubber/eraser to remove the pencil drawn ‘X’ in the centre of the card.

Now you need to cut the fold lines from the short edges up to the first crease that passes through them horizontally. You should end up with 3 flaps of paper on each short edge of the card.

Fold up the long creases along the long edges.

Fold the 2 outside flaps up on the short edges over the centre flap so it remains against the surface and the flaps with the long edges create a box.

Fold the remaining flags on either short side over the box and fold them over and tape or glue them in place.

That is the lid complete.

Now take the other piece of card and mark with pencil 6mm or ¼ inch all the way around the edges.

Cut along the lines 6mm from the edges.

Now do the exact same as before with this smaller piece of card to make a smaller box which will be the bottom of the box.

Place the lid on top of the bottom half of the box and it should fit perfectly!
